Captain America: Civil War (Spoiler Free Review)

This bank holiday weekend I was lucky enough to catch one of the first showings of the Captain America sequel showdown Civil War and WOW, was it a treat!

With political pressure mounting to install a system of accountability when the actions of the Avengers lead to collateral damage. The new status quo deeply divides members of the avenging team. Captain America (Chris Evans) believes superheroes should remain free to defend humanity without government interference, while Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) sharply disagrees and supports oversight. As the debate escalates into an all-out feud, Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner)  and the rest of the band of special powered team must pick a side and fight for what they believe in.

The Russo Brothers have yet again beaten the odds and knocked what can only be described as one of the best superhero movies to grace our screens.
This edition to the MCU is packed full of jaw dropping action sequences that will leave you breathless and wanting more. The choreography in the hand to hand fight scenes are so intense that you will find yourself in a boodle of array!

The story is incredibly captivating and with the helping hand of previous outing you are totally invested in each and every character right from the get go.
This was one of the more shinning aspects for me because it ultimately led me to enjoy this adventure even more.

The story is face paced and never holds back – we are given more of a darker insight into some of our characters which is a breathe of fresh air as Civil War is not a animated spectacle at all. Challenging the audience to truly pick a side, I found myself jumping from #TeamCap to #TeamIronMan which was impressive as it made the film flow more and become even more captivating – with an abundance of great performance to behold, there were three that stood out to me.

Elizabeth Olsen makes a great return as the infamous Scarlet Witch. Here she has more to play with and adds an incredible amount to the plot but we also see her utter pain throughout. Olsen brought some tremendous chops to the table as has proven that women actors are just as fierce!

Chadwick Boseman knocks it outta the park as the new edition Black Panther we truly understand his morals in why he has become the Panther and also what he must do to protect his people. Without giving too much away, his character has the best arc in the film.

But, the scene stealer for me is the web slinger himself: Spider-Man. Again without spoiling anything, the MCU producers have absolutely done justice for the famous character. Tom Holland is Spidey – and with 30mins of screen time, its just enough to want more!

Captain America: Civil War is an immense edition to the MCU and The Captain America series, it totally invests you in each character and does not come off as Avengers 2.5. This is truly Caps movie which packs a punch which will set the tone for the following outings

Don’t miss this one.. oh and stay after the credits stop rolling!
